We’ve all experienced an interruption in our life at some point in time, for some, it might be an exploited diaper, while for others it could be a last minute meeting at work. Whatever the interruption, we have all have dealt with it in our life. Well, I had one today, and for me it was big. As you may or may not know, I live in North Carolina, and we got snow early this morning. While the snow is beautiful to look at, there are so many other things that come with it, and for me today, it was a power outage. And today, I had plans; plans of lounging, washing clothes, cooking, catching up on shows/movies, and maybe even a little cleaning, but all of that got interrupted this morning when I heard a loud clunk. And just like that, the lights were out. Thankfully, it was during the day, so I could see just fine with natural light, but all of “my” plans were gone. After being annoyed that the lights were out, for a few seconds, I decided to take me a nap. Upon waking up from my nap and there were still no lights, I decided to read a book I received for my birthday. The name of the book is entitled, “Seuss-isms: A Guide to Life for those just starting out…and those already on their way.” There were so many jewels of wisdom in this short little book. I was thankful for finally reading it, but what really got me was, I put off reading the book completely several times, but when I was forced to read it (because I was bored, with no tv or phone-I had to save my battery), I got so much from it.
This whole situation reminded me that sometimes interruptions are good. I believe they are a gift from God to remind us that he is in control. We often times get caught up in our day to day lives that we miss out on the small and important things. Interruptions require us to slow down and think, and sometimes we get blessed in the process of it. I was blessed today with a restful day and a lot of wisdom. And just in case you were wondering, after about 4 hours, my lights came back on well before dark. We all have to come to recognize that God is working it all out for our good, even when we don’t understand it.
