What Does Valentine’s Day Mean time to You?

To me, Valentine’s Day is about loving the ones you are surrounded by including your family and friends. For some people, they believe Valentine’s Day is about a significant other and may feel down when they do not have one, but is that the only person that you can receive love from? This morning as I prepared to leave my house, I looked around and saw love all around my home. I looked at the coasters my cousin made for me as a gift with pictures of loved ones, then I looked at the card given to me by my aunt with an expression of love and a scripture picked specifically for me, and I looked at all the pictures of the people I love so dearly. Each of these items reminded me of the love I have been blessed to experience.

Valentine’s Day is about love. Love is not just limited to the love experienced from a significant other, but also the love experienced by family, friends, and most importantly God. God is love! He is the author of love. As we go through this day and the days to come, let us remember to share God’s love with everyone we come in contact with; strangers, coworkers, family, and friends, understanding that God’s love is unconditional. Yes, the struggle is real sometimes trying to love someone that we feel “don’t deserve it”, but what constantly helps me is understanding that I “don’t “deserve it”, yet God still loves me unconditionally. Share love Valentine’s Day and all days!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Yes, loving others can be a struggle. But as you said, thinking about God’s unconditional love gets me right in check. What a wonderful reflection, especially on a special day like today when love is the focus. Also, when we can see love in everything around us as you did today, it builds a grateful heart…a fertile ground for love.
