Breaking Barriers

Yes, I’m Mad…And!

Growing up did you ever get mad with your parents? Maybe they wouldn’t let you do what you wanted to do? I think about when I was young, I got mad with my mom because she wouldn’t let me spend the night at my friend’s house. I didn’t understand why she wouldn’t let me be great. LOL. Now looking back, I understand, she didn’t know those people. LOL. I think parents have a sixth sense about things we don’t know about; many times it has to do with experience. As an adult, I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing as my mom. Sometimes when we get into situations, we have blinders on and can’t see things that others on the outside can see.

Have you ever gotten mad at God? Have you ever questioned why he allowed something or didn’t? Yep, guilty as charged! I recently got so mad at God. Something happened and I did not understand why he allowed it. And so in true child fashion, I had a tantrum. Granted there was no literal kicking and screaming, but I had an attitude and I was not talking to God. I was mad and so confused. Over time, I began to talk to Him again and he began to share His word back to me. What I love about God is he does a great job of giving us what we need when we need it. Each of our relationships is different with him. The way he communicates with me is different from how he communicates with you. We are all different and he treats us as such.

Just like with our parents, God knows what’s best for us. Even when we don’t understand it, we have to trust Him. I still don’t understand why he has allowed this to happen to me, however, I know what his word says, I must trust him, even when I can’t see what is happening. I wanted to write this post to encourage someone that may be going through a difficult time, trust God. Get into his word and remind yourself and Him of what His word says. I want to leave you with a few scriptures that have truly been a blessing to me in this season.

One additional thing I want to add, you can trust God with anything, including your feelings and honesty. When you are mad or frustrated, talk to God. He understands and he can handle it. In any relationship, there will be times when you will not see eye to eye or understand each other, but communication is the key. Be honest about your feelings then move forward. Sometimes, how to move forward will not be clear, but trust the process, in due time you will come around. God’s word is truly a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path, trust it!
