Every now and then we need to be called out on our stuff (bull). This happened to me the other day when my mom called me out on something I had not followed through on. Side bar, if you don’t have people in your life that will call you out when you’re wrong, you don’t have the right people in your life. We all make mistakes, it’s important that the people that love you tell you about those mistakes, so that you don’t continue to make them, this includes parents, friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. As shared in my last post, love rejoices in truth (1 Corinthians 13:6). Okay, so back to my story, she reminded me of something I had not done that I said I would do, let me just tell you about my mom, she’s a beast and she doesn’t play, Lol. I immediately got quiet because I was annoyed, but why was I annoyed, she was right, I didn’t follow through. Then I asked myself, why am I procrastinating on such a simple task, then it hit me, like a ton of bricks, I’m scared. For me, fear sometimes causes me to procrastinate, dance around the idea because I’m too scared to face it. Completing this particular task would remind me of a failure, and who wants to be reminded of something they didn’t do right or failed, me! Lol. However, not dealing with it will not make it go away or better, so why not just deal with it.
God can’t help you if you’re acting as though it didn’t happen. We all have our mistakes, failures, mishaps that we have to deal with, but nonetheless, we have to deal with it. The Bible reminds us that through it all, God will be with us every step of the way. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).” “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).” “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).”
Then the Bible tells us that with Christ ALL things are possible which simply means, he can help us get through whatever situation we are going through, even if we are fearful. We can’t allow fear or mistakes rule us, we must deal with it and move forward, greater will come!! So look your fear, your failure, your mistake in the eye and say with an attitude, You Don’t Rule Me!!!
