Breaking Barriers

ACCESS

I was walking through the hospital the other day and I used my badge to get into the building and instantly what came to my mind was the word access. Before I go on I feel the need to define the word, access, which means, permission, liberty, or ability to enter, approach, or pass to and from a place or to approach or communicate with a person or thing. Because I work for the hospital they have given me access (permission, liberty, or ability to enter) to get into the building. I was able to get into doors other people (that do not work there of course) are not able to get into. And then I began to think about our lives and the kingdom of God, when we say yes to him we gain access to many things (freedom, eternal life, power, authority, abundance, peace, keys to the kingdom, and so much more) because we are his children.

I began to think about something my cousin shared with my family not too long ago. The scripture says in John 10:10b, “I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” My cousin reminded us that we are to live an abundant life. For many, they believe there is no action involved with this, as God will do it all. But it is up to us as believers to walk in the things of God with confidence knowing what he can and will do. In order for us to walk in abundance, we must move forward. With each step forward God will continue to reveal himself to you each step along the way. Faith is required to activate the abundant life.

God wanting us to live an abundant life is not for us to just kind of sit back and wait for things to happen but there are certain things we have to do; there are certain actions that we have to take. We have to make sure we are activating our faith and being active with our faith.

So this message is to that person that is like me, struggling to break barriers and perhaps feeling stuck. You are only stuck because you are not moving, so MOVE. The scripture says, “faith without works is dead,” so get to moving. I heard someone say before when you’re not sure what to do, do the last thing God told you to do. Once you start moving and seeking Him, the rest will come. Never forget, you have access to an abundant life, don’t miss out on it because you are too afraid or fearful to move forward. Just Go!

You can use your access to access authority, power, and peace. If you need help accessing them, here are few scriptures to help you realize who you are in Christ. You are already equipped with access to an abundant life.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26 NIV

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 NIV

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9 NIV

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 NIV

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Luke 10:19 NIV

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 NIV

Now the question is, what are you going to use your access for to gain? Let’s go!
