Breaking Barriers

Things are Not Always What They Seem

There’s a saying that goes, the grass is always greener on the other side, but the other part to that is, you never know what your neighbors had to go through to get that grass. Many times we perceive things that are not always so. Social media is big for this, we see what people post on their social media and sometimes it may seem that they have it all figured out. They knew what they wanted to be when they grew up, they identified their gifts right from birth, they came out of college making “bank”, they are courageous and nothing bothers them, etc etc.

Everyone has a story, and sometimes we are blessed to know these stories. In these moments, we are able to understand the struggles of the person, what they had to go through to get to where they are, or even the struggles that they are continuing to deal with. God reveals things to us sometimes to encourage us and help us understand; we all have our struggles, some maybe more than others. But we are all going through. He also reveals his faithfulness by showing how we have been brought through or how others have been brought through. We must be careful with looking at small pieces of people’s lives and thinking that is it. We all put on social media what we are willing for others to know, I know I do :). There’s nothing wrong with this, however we must recognize while looking at others, we don’t know what they went through to get what they got. There are many who may be married now but went through a terrible divorce or survived a domestic violence situation, there may be someone that is joyfully pregnant now but it took them years to become pregnant, you never know. You never know the insecurities that people are struggling with or overcoming. We all have our struggles, no one is perfect. We must recognize our imperfection and the fact that we are a lot more alike than we are different. We have to encourage and uplift one another. We are here on earth to support and build each other up. Know who you are and whose you are, this is your foundation. Understanding all of this will not only equip you but help you to support others. There’s only one you, be the best at it!!!
